Singer Addresses University of Pittsburgh Conference on Net Neutrality
Feburary 23, 2007
Criterion President Hal J. Singer addressed the William Pitt Debating Union (WPDU) and the computer science department as part of the Computer Science Day at the University of Pittsburgh on February 23. Dr. Singer's remarks came as part of a debate entitled "Is the End of Free Internet Near? A Public Debate on Net Neutrality." Dr. Singer argued why net neutrality does not represent good public policy.
Net neutrality was defended by Art Brodsky, Communications Director at Public Knowledge. Before joining Public Knowledge, Mr. Brodsky worked at Communications Daily, Congressional Quarterly, and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). The debate panelists included Professor Jon M. Peha (Carnegie Mellon University), Professor Gordon Mitchell (University of Pittsburgh), and Michael Mangus, Guy Risko, and Melissa Mistretta, three members of the WPDU.
