Criterion President Speaks at DOJ Telecommunications Symposium on Voice, Video, and Broadband and FCBA Luncheon on the Economics of Wireless Net Neutrality and Open Access
November 27, 2007
Criterion President Hal Singer spoke at the 2007 Telecommunications Symposium hosted by the Antitrust Division. The symposium, entitled “Voice, Video and Broadband: The Changing Competitive Landscape and Its Impact on Consumers,” discussed competition in telecommunications services and video programming delivery.
Dr. Singer spoke on the first panel, entitled “Entry into Multichannel Video Services.” This panel explored whether there are significant regulatory (federal, state, and local) or other constraints on video entry and how competition has changed as a result of the telephone companies’ entry into offering video services.
Other panel speakers at the DOJ symposium included John Goodman with Broadband Service Providers Association, Jane Lawton with the Office of Cable and Communications Services, Grier Raclin with Charter Communications, Inc., and John Thorne with Verizon Communications Inc.
Dr. Singer also spoke on the economics of wireless net neutrality and open access at the Wireless Practice Committee Wireless Committee Lunch hosted by the Federal Communications Bar Association. The luncheon was held at Sidley Austin LLP.
Other luncheon participants included James Gattuso with The Heritage Foundation, Michael Calabrese with the New America Foundation, and Chris Murray with the Consumers Union.
